Job Overview:

An AI Support Engineer is a professional who specializes in providing technical support, troubleshooting, and solutions for AI-related technologies and products. They are typically involved in assisting users, developers, and organizations with AI systems, ensuring the smooth deployment, integration, and maintenance of these technologies.

Here are some key responsibilities of an AI Support Engineer:

  1. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Addressing technical issues related to AI models, platforms, or algorithms, and providing solutions to minimize downtime or disruptions.

  2. AI System Integration: Assisting organizations in integrating AI tools into their existing systems and processes.

  3. Technical Support: Providing help to end-users, developers, or teams working with AI products, guiding them through challenges or errors they may face.

  4. Performance Monitoring: Monitoring the performance of AI systems and ensuring that they are functioning optimally. This may include analyzing model accuracy, data pipelines, and infrastructure stability.

  5. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Writing and maintaining documentation on how to use AI tools or handle common technical issues, as well as providing knowledge sharing to improve internal processes.

  6. Collaboration: Working closely with AI developers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to resolve complex technical challenges and improve AI systems.

  7. User Training: Sometimes, AI Support Engineers may also conduct training sessions to help users better understand the systems they’re working with.

Skills typically required for an AI Support Engineer:

  • Programming Languages: Knowledge of programming languages commonly used in AI and machine learning, such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Understanding of AI/ML Models: Familiarity with popular machine learning models, algorithms, and libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and Keras.
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure, as AI applications are often deployed on the cloud.
  • Troubleshooting and Debugging: Ability to debug complex software systems and identify the root causes of issues.
  • Customer Service Skills: Since this is a support role, strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • First line of response to any customer issues: Customer issues could stem from misuse of the software, errors in the deployment, or bugs in the underlying software.
  • Developer success engineers are required to use their AI and CS knowledge to the root cause and respond to any type of issue.
  • Escalation, resolution, and education: If a support engineer is unable to resolve a customer issue, they are responsible for escalating the issue to the appropriate stakeholders (deployed engineering, field IT, or enterprise engineering), tracking and understanding the resolution of the issue, and educating the customer on the solution.
  • Knowledge documentation and distribution: Developer Success engineers are responsible for documenting learnings about failure modalities across use and deployment and distributing that knowledge to end customers and internal engineering teams.

Requirements:

  • Exp: 0-1 years. (immediate to 30 days preferred).
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field from a Tier 1 college.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go, with experience deploying and managing software in cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of distributed computing, containerization, and orchestration technologies (e. g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong organizational skills and customer friendliness.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
  • Passion for artificial intelligence and large language models.
  • Hands-on experience with these technologies is not required but is a plus.
